1. General Instructions for all Participants

  • b. What does Criteriummean ?

    A criterium, or crit, is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit, the length of each lap or circuit ranging from about 800 m to 10,000 m Source – Wikipedia

  • c. EVENT CATEGORIES
      Elite – 42Kms (3 Laps of the circuit) - Mass Start Race
      Amateur - 28 Kms ( 2 Laps of the circuit)- Mass Start Race
      Green ride – 14 Kms ( 1 Loop of the circuit)– Fun / Awareness Ride

2. Schedule

  • a. Race Kit Collection :-
      1. For Race Categories - Your race kit will include your Jersey, Timed Bibs, Goodies
      2. For 10Km Green Ride- Helmet, T-shirt, Bib Number (Non-timed) + Goodies
      3. The bib distribution date and venue

    3. Report Time

    • a. You need to report at the Start Line area 15 Minutes prior to your scheduled time.
    • b. It is your responsibility to report on time at the start point. Late comers will not be entertained

    1. Elite Race (42Km- Mass Start)– ROAD BIKES& T.T. BIKES ONLY 5am Warm up Ride (one lap)Compulsory forall. (This is a chance to preview the route prior to the main race) 5 Min buffer time to settle down for Main Race

    5:30am MAIN RACE(3 Laps of the race circuit) Cut off time of 1 Hr 30 Min. If a rider is not able to complete within the cut off limit, he/she would be removed from the race circuit by the marshals on duty.

    Line up Sequence - ELITE MEN -ELITE WOMEN Note- There is no responsibility of the organizing team/Race Director for head counts before flag off. One has to make sure for marking the place ofhis/her own zone before the flag off.

    2. Amateur Race (28 Km- Mass Start) Road Bike + MTBs IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MTB RIDERS Tyres width less than 2.0mm would be consider as a Road Bike. It is the responsibility of the rider himself to be aware of this. If found guilty during or post ride it would be direct case of disqualification and rider would be given a DNF (Did Not Finish).

    07:00am MAIN RACE (2 Laps of the race circuit) Cut off time of 1 Hour 20 Min. If a rider is not able to complete within the cut off limit, he/she would be removed from the race circuit by the marshals on duty. Line upSequence - Road (Men)-Road (Women) -MTB (Men)-MTB (Women) Note- There is no responsibility of the organizing team/Race Director for head counts before flag off. One has to make sure for marking the place of his/her own zone before the flag off.

    3. Green Ride (14 Kms) – Non-Timed & Non-Competitive Fun Ride Mass Flag off : 8am (1 Lap of the race circuit)

    Time Chip Placing and Role: This point is meant for Elite and Amateur Race Category Only

  • There will be two timing mats for both race categories
      At the Start and Finish Gate
      After ‘U’ Turn( 7Km Mark)
      Crossing both timing mats is Mandatory if you miss the timing mats on any of your loop, it will not be counted.
    Note – You have to ensure yourself not to miss the time mat and you have to go through it without creating any hassle to fellow rider.
  • Make sure you carry your race kit on the event day (No BIB means NO RACE).
      The bib number must be clearly visible from the front till the race is over
      Mount the bike number on the front of your handle bar. Your bike number must be clearly visible from the front
  • Instruction for placing Bib and Bike number (both are configure with time and your race number)
  • FINISH DEFINITION

  • A ride will be considered as finished, the moment a rider crosses the FinishingMat which is fitted at START/FINISH GATE. Flag off time is common for all, but whosoever crosses the finish line first in his/her last lap will be the winner or podium finishers ( for 2nd& 3rd positions for that particular category).
  • In case of a tie for any podium finish position, it will be judged by the moment any part of the front wheel of cycle crosses a vertical line extending from the leading edge of the finish part of line. AND it will be judged by the reading of the installed fixed video cameras and dedicated still cameras. THE DECISION OF THE RACE DIRECTOR WOULD BE FINAL AND ALL HAVE TO ABIDE BY IT.
  • NOTE :TIME CHIPs are meant for counting of the laps only. Both races are a mass start and whosoever crosses the finish line first will be the winner of that particular category.

    7. CAR PARKING / HYDRATION a. Car Parking is available to all the participants (FREE). b. Water and Energy drinks will be available at the start and finish gate, assembling area and at every 2.5km point from the start/finish gate. 8. Cycling Rules and Regulations a. All participants have to follow the route strictly- any deviation will lead to immediate disqualification. ROAD or RACE CIRCUIT is PROPERLY BLOCKED FOR GENERAL TRAFFIC b. MTB RIDERS Tyres width less than 2.0 would be consider as a Road Bike. It is the responsibility of the rider himself to be aware of this. If found guilty during or post ride it would be direct case of disqualification and rider would be given a DNF (Did Not Finish). c. Racers should not draft behind any motorized vehicle including marshalling vehicle at any point of time during the event as this would lead to immediate disqualification. d. It is MANDATORY to wear a cycling helmet for the entire duration of the race/event. Riders without a helmet would not be allowed to start. e. Cyclists are required to wear a standardized cycle helmet. The helmet must be fastened at all times while on the bike. f. No outside help or assistance is allowed while you are competing. Once the race starts, you can’t take outside help or assistance either from audience or from the marshals, unless you drop out the competition. If you drop out of, contact the race officials as soon as possible and donot cross the finish line. g. No private vehicles or assistance to riders will be allowed on the course, failure to obey this rule will result in disqualification. h. You are not permitted to:- I. Block other racer II. Cycle with bare torso/Sandals III. Cycling with ear Headphones /Music devices of any type IV. Run and Finish the race without bike V. Practice inside the assembling area. This is not an indoor track. VI. A Racer can’t change his/her bike during the race. VII. Any support vehicle other than the organizer’s vehicle or Race Director Vehicle is not allowed during the event. VIII. In case of a breakdown, you can either repair on your own or run with the bike to the finish point. If you want to give up, inform the race director and quit. IX. During the Race if any Race Official finds any participant under the influence of any banned substance or medically unfit to compete in the race, due to some injury during the race, the Race official has the right to declare the Racer as Did Not Finish. The racer has to accept the decision and discontinue his/her ride X. NO ASSISTANCE will be provided in case of any kind of breakdown. NOTE – FAILURE TO OBEY THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION 9. SAFETY GUIDELINEs a. Each rider must be covered by liability insurance, either by a group policy or by a personal policy. b. The responsibility of remaining on the course rests with the racer, any racer who appears to technical or medical officials as presenting a danger to themselves or others, may be removed from the competition. c. A Racer can run or walk – NOT RIDE their bikes through the assembling area. Chip timing is being used and racer need to walk / run their bike across the timing mat coming in and leaving the star/finish gate area to record their time. This is also a safety issue in the transition area. d. The Race Circuit is totally blocked for general traffic throughout the event. But in an emergency a racer should raise an arm overhead and call for assistance, Once official assistance is rendered, you must have retire from the competition. 9. RACE RESULTS a. Participant medals will be awarded to all the participants after they have completed the race. Results will be published online. Digital certificate will available on www.gurugramcriterium.com post event. b. Result notification to athletes via SMS on finishing. 10. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE a. Medical Teams provided by Medanta Hospital and will be located / Stationed I. At the venue II. 3 ambulance enroute IF YOU WITNESS AN ACCIDENT, IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, NOTIFY RACE MARSHALS OR OFFICIAL MOBILE NUMBER OFNatureFresh GURUGRAM CRITEIRUM DISCLAIMER 1- In case of any mishap or accident, the organizers would not be held responsible. 2- Each rider must be covered by liability insurance, either by a group policy or by a personal policy. 3- This is a physically demanding event and could be affected by extreme weather. By entering/ registering for the competition or event. The participant /competitor is confirming that he/she is capable of completing the event as per the rules and regulations given above and that the organizers and race director will not be held responsible for any illness or injury that may occur as a result of their participantion. 4- The organizing team does not provide any insurance cover to the participant. If a participant has a mediclaim/ health insurance policy of their own, they are already covered for any hospitalization lasting more than 24 hrs (Including resulting from road accidents). Please check with your insurance agent in case it is different. The organizing team encourage all participants to have a medi-claim / health insurance policy.
